In Counter-Strike team strategy is important. If you work with your teammates to complete the map objectives you will have a much better chance of winning. One of the most important aspects of team play is communication. If you don't have a microphone, get one. There is nothing worse than getting killed because you were typing to a teammate.

Voice chat should be used to communicate important information during a round. This includes things like enemy positions, the location of the bomb carrier, the location of a dropped bomb, the location of a planted bomb, etc. Try to keep the chat to a minimum so others can hear the game. Voice chat is also good to use to coordinate an attack on one position form multiple entry points. When entering a room for example one player can create a distraction at one entrance with grenades, flashbangs or by shooting. Then when the enemy is trying to kill that player his teammates can rush the other entrances.

On a bomb defusal map you should always guard your teammates while they are planting or defusing the bomb. Stand right next to them and try to block incoming bullets with your body. Even if you die you may have given your teammates the extra second they needed to plant or defuse the bomb. If it is a hostage rescue map make sure the guard the player with the hostatges. One guy should lead hostages, one guy should be in front scouting out the path and a third guy should take flank.

Stay with your teammates but do not stay too grouped together. If you are too close together it will be too easy for the enemy to get multiple kills. When entering a room do not stop in the door. This just blocks your teammates and gets you and them killed. Instead run in the room and move away from the door. Then as the enemy turns to shoot you have your other teammates rush in.
